Paul warns the young believers in Colossae not to drift from the simple gospel they first received by adding extra rules, mystical practices, or human philosophies to Jesus. Some were being pressured to pursue harsh self–denial to earn God’s favor, while others chased hidden spiritual knowledge and experiences—yet both approaches missed the point. Paul insists that Jesus alone is the fullness of God, and through His death believers already have everything they need. The heart of the message: Jesus is enough—don’t add anything to Him.
