Make Room for the Future
• Pete Goodman • Series: Stay on Target
The church in Sardis had a reputation for past greatness, but Jesus warned that they were spiritually asleep—living off yesterday’s stories while their current mission remained unfinished. Like Sardis, churches and believers can get so comfortable with old successes, old methods, and old memories that they leave no room for the new things God wants to do. Jesus calls His people to honor the past but refuse to be trapped by it, staying awake, responsive, and ready for whatever His Spirit leads them into next. For Woodland, that means remembering our rich history with gratitude while courageously making space—personally and collectively—for fresh vision, new opportunities, and future generations.
